You should apply as an international student if you require a visa to enter the United States. You may complete an application using one of the following methods:

• Download and print application

Some programs require a supplemental application. Read the information on admissions requirements by program.
Applications must be submitted and all admission materials received by the application deadline date:
Fall Semester – July 21st
Spring Semester – December 10th
Summer Semester – April 14th
Some programs have earlier deadlines. We recommend you check online to see if your program has an earlier deadline.
Pay the application fee.
In response to COVID-19, CSU is waiving the $40 application fee is required for all degree, licensure and certificate programs.
Other fees may apply based on the program to which you are applying.
Submit official transcripts.
Request complete school records (transcripts, mark sheets, certificates) from all post-secondary institutions that you attended. All school records should be submitted in the original language and should be accompanied by a certified English translation. Cleveland State University must see all attempts at all exams to properly evaluate the credentials for a U.S. grade point average.

Submit official entrance exam scores (GRE, GMAT, MAT).

• Graduate Record Exam (GRE) information is available online. Our institution code is 1221. No program code is required.
• Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) information is available online. Our institution code is 832-VP-99.
• The Miller Analogies Test (MAT) can be taken on campus through Testing Services.
All test scores must be official and sent directly to CSU from the testing agency.
Submit supplementary materials (recommendation letters, goal statement, writing sample).

Download letter of recommendation cover sheet or ask your recommenders to submit their letters by email to allin1@csuohio.edu. Recommendation letters can also be managed and submitted by logging back into your online application and clicking the “Manage Recommendations” link.

Submit proof of English proficiency.
Graduate applicants must submit proof of English proficiency. CSU offers students the following choices to prove English language proficiency:
- Meet minimum test score requirements:
- TOEFL iBT (Internet-Based): 78 and at least 17 in each section
- TOEFL PBT (Paper-Based): 550
- IELTS: 6.0 and at least 5.0 in each section
- PTE (Pearsons Test of English): 50
- iTEP: 3.8
- Duolingo score 105 (https://englishtest.duolingo.com/)
- Successful completion of CSU's IELP (Intensive English Language Program) Advanced Level, with a grade of 80% or better
- Completion of English language studies (Level 112) from any ELS Language Center
- Proof of graduation from a secondary school or accredited college/university in the U.S. or from one of the TOEFL exempted countries.
Note: The College of Engineering has higher TOEFL (iBT) subscore requirements: 78 (Reading: 20, Listening: 21, Writing: 17, Speaking: 20)
Submit financial documents.
In order to receive a certificate of eligibility for a student visa (Form I-20 or Form DS-2019) from CSU, all international students must submit documentation of financial support for one academic year. While this is not required for admission consideration, you may choose to submit this documentation with your application materials.
