Global Sustainable Business Practices Graduate Certificate

Cleveland State University's graduate certificate in Global Sustainable Business Practices prepares students with the knowledge and skills to integrate sustainable business practices across all areas of a business. The certificate is intended to prepare a new generation of leaders and practitioners with the skills and tools necessary to lead competitive yet sustainable business practices in today's global market place.

The World Commission on Environment and Development defines sustainability as "meeting the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs." Sustainable business practices involve social, economic, and environmental strategies that foster the health of our planet.

The certificate program is designed for current MBA students who have completed the introductory level course work as well as for those who have earned the MBA degree. Applicants with non-business degrees may be admitted to the certificate program following a review of their academic credentials.

  • MBA 650 - Principles of Sustainable Business Practices
  • MBA 651 - Sustainable Business Practicum
  • Choose two of the following courses:
    • IST 601 - IT for Competitive Advantage
    • OSM 652 - Sustainable Supply Chain Management
    • MBA 653 - Sustainable Business Venturing
    • MBA 654 - Social Entrepreneurship in Emerging Market
    • MKT 608 - Global Marketing
    • MKT 607 - Product Management
    • IST 601 - IT for Competitive Advantage
    • OSM 517 - Lean Six Sigma

Note: Pre-requisites: Students wishing to enroll in MBA 650, MBA 651, OSM 652, MBA 653 and MBA 654 must complete the MBA program’s “Level 1” foundation courses or obtain permission from the program advisor.
